The Pacific Coast is becoming a hub for large hotel chain investments. The trend is projected to continue further South into the Central Pacific region and onto the Caribbean coast eventually. Guanacaste’s northern Pacific coast could see as many as 20 high-end hotels and resorts in the next five years, according to plans by local and international investors. The proposed hotels are a mix of all-inclusive resorts, five-star hotels by name brands, or smaller boutique hotels of between 70 and 100 rooms.
In the Guanacaste region alone the hotels slated for development include:
- The Hyatt Regency Azulera (Playa Brasilito), featuring a spa and 18 hole golf course with over 557 acres.
- JW Marriott, located inside the 4,500 acre Hacienda Pinilla Development (Playa Manzanillo). The exclusive hotel will feature a world class spa, 180 rooms, and access to the existing championship 18 hole golf course inside Hacienda Pinilla. This project has been underway for some months now.
- The Mandarin Oriental Golf and Residential Development (Playa Manzanillo). The hotel and golf course will be spread over 538 acres.
